🎬 INTRO: Opening
Welcome back, SEO Hobby Expert School students! This is your Teacher, broadcasting from the SEO Hobby Expert School Headquarters. I am joined today by two of our most dedicated remote students who are currently traveling the world while studying SEO and video virality.
Hi Teacher! I'm Matcha Maya, currently vlogging from a cozy café in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I've been documenting my journey learning SEO while backpacking through Southeast Asia.
And I'm Acai Gomez! I'm currently in Bali, Indonesia, balancing surf sessions with SEO studies. I'm here to figure out why my travel vlogs aren't getting the views they deserve.
Perfect timing, Acai! Today's episode is all about cracking the code on video virality. We've just completed a full SEO audit on two blogs — one of which is exactly what you're trying to build: a travel vlogging blog that uses 360 cameras.
Matcha Maya: Yes! I've been following the "Global Journey with 360 Camera" blog. I want to know exactly what I need to fix to rank better.
Teacher: Well then, let's dive in. By the end of this episode, you'll know exactly how to turn your travel vlog into an SEO powerhouse.
📚 SEGMENT 1: The Big Picture
Let's start with the big question, Acai. What's your biggest challenge with your travel vlog right now?
Honestly, Teacher? I post great videos. I use the Insta360 X5. I shoot in 8K. But my blog posts get maybe 50 views. My friend with a cat channel gets 50,000. What am I doing wrong?
You're not alone. This is exactly what the "Global Journey with 360 Camera" blog was dealing with until recently. They had excellent content — 2,500 to 3,800-word articles, personal experience, great photos — but they were missing the technical foundation.
What do you mean by "technical foundation"?
Think of it like building a house. You can have the most beautiful furniture inside, but if the foundation is cracked, the house won't stand. In SEO, your "foundation" is things like:
- Meta descriptions
- H1 tags
- Author identity (E-E-A-T)
- Structured data (schema)
- Internal links
Acai Gomez: Wait, I don't think I have any of those things.
Teacher: Exactly. And that's why you're stuck at 50 views. Let's fix that, starting with the most critical issues.
For a complete breakdown of all technical SEO elements, see our Ultimate Guide to Video Virality.
🔴 SEGMENT 2: The Critical Issues
Alright, class. Let's go through the RED ZONE issues — the critical problems you must fix immediately. These are the things that are actively hurting your SEO.
I'm ready. Tell me what I'm doing wrong.
Issue #1: Missing Meta Descriptions.
What's a meta description?
It's the short paragraph that appears under your page title in Google search results. Right now, Google is auto-generating yours. This is bad because auto-generated snippets reduce your click-through rate (CTR) by 25 to 40%.
Acai Gomez: 40%? That's massive!
Teacher: It is. The fix is simple: write a unique meta description for every page. 150 to 160 characters. Include your primary keyword. Make it compelling.
Matcha Maya: I'm going to go through all 15 of my articles this week and add meta descriptions.
Teacher: Good. Issue #2: Missing H1 Tags.
H1 is the title, right?
Yes, but it's not just the title — it's the MOST IMPORTANT title. Google uses it to understand what your page is about. Right now, your blog is using H2 or H3 tags instead of H1.
Matcha Maya: How do I fix that?
Teacher: In Blogger's theme editor, find the code that displays your post title. Change it from <h2> to <h1>. Or, in each post, wrap the title in <h1> tags manually.
Acai Gomez: That sounds easy enough.
Teacher: It is. But here's the bigger issue: Issue #3: No Author Page.
What do you mean?
Google wants to know WHO is writing the content. Right now, your blog has an author bio box, but it points to a page that doesn't exist — /p/author.html. This is an E-E-A-T critical failure.
Acai Gomez: So I just need to create that page?
Teacher: Yes! Create a page with your name, photo, biography, and links to your social profiles. This is your "E-E-A-T" — Experience, Expertise, Authority, and Trustworthiness.
Matcha Maya: I've heard of E-E-A-T. It's what Google uses to decide if a site is trustworthy.
Teacher: Correct. And Google literally cannot verify your authorship without an author page. That's why it's critical.
Read more about E-E-A-T and trust signals in our Ultimate Guide.
🚨 Critical Fixes Recap:
- 1. Meta Descriptions: Add to EVERY page (150-160 chars, include keyword, compelling CTA).
- 2. H1 Tags: Change title wrappers from
<h2>to<h1>. - 3. Author Page: Create
/p/author.htmlwith bio, photo, and social links.
🖼️ SEGMENT 3: Visual Trust Signals
Let's talk about visual trust signals. Author photo, blog logo, and featured images.
I haven't added any of those.
And that's a problem. Here's why:
- Author Photo: Google looks for a real headshot as a trust signal. Without it, your E-E-A-T score drops.
- Blog Logo: Your brand identity is incomplete. Google can't associate a logo with your organization.
- Featured Images: Your JSON-LD schema is trying to show images in search results, but they're missing.
Acai Gomez: So I'm missing out on rich snippets?
Teacher: Exactly. Rich snippets — the images, stars, and extra information in search results — dramatically increase your click-through rate.
Matcha Maya: I'll add my photo and logo this week. What about the featured images?
Teacher: Add at least one relevant image per article. And make sure you're adding descriptive alt text.
What's alt text?
Alternative text. It describes the image for screen readers and search engines. For example, instead of "IMG_1234.jpg," use: "Chiang Mai's Wat Umong forest temple captured in 360° during golden hour."
Matcha Maya: That actually adds value to the SEO!
Teacher: Exactly. It's a small effort with a big payoff.
🗺️ SEGMENT 4: The 30-Day Action Plan
Now, class, let's get practical. Here's your 30-day action plan.
I'm ready. Let's do this.
Week 1 — The Critical Fixes:
- Day 1: Create
/p/author.htmlpage with your photo, bio, and social links. - Day 2: Replace the author photo placeholder in ALL articles with your real photo.
- Day 3: Replace the blog logo placeholder with your actual logo.
- Day 4: Add meta descriptions to ALL 15+ articles.
- Day 5: Fix H1 tags (change
<h2>/<h3>to<h1>).
Matcha Maya: That's doable. I'm going to do it all on one weekend.
Teacher: Good energy. Week 2 — Content & Structure:
- Day 8: Merge any duplicate articles (if you have any).
- Day 9: Add Table of Contents to articles over 2,000 words.
- Day 10: Create a pillar page — "The Ultimate Guide to 360 Travel Vlogging."
- Day 11: Add 3-5 internal links per article.
What are internal links?
Links from one page on your site to another. For example, linking your "Insta360 X5 Review" to your "Best Microphones for Travel Vlogging" article. This builds topical authority.
Matcha Maya: So it tells Google that I'm an expert on the whole topic, not just one article?
Teacher: Exactly. Week 3 — Visual & UX:
- Day 15: Add 1-2 relevant images per article.
- Day 16: Add descriptive alt text to all images.
- Day 17: Add a Related Posts widget in Blogger.
Acai Gomez: What's a Related Posts widget?
Teacher: It automatically shows other articles from your blog at the bottom of each post. It keeps people on your site longer, which increases engagement signals.
Matcha Maya: I'm going to do all of this. I want my blog to be a real resource.

📊 SEGMENT 5: The Before & After
Let me show you what the "before" and "after" look like for the "Global Journey with 360 Camera" blog — which, by the way, is exactly like your blogs, Acai and Matcha.
What was their score before?
67/100. Missing meta descriptions, missing H1 tags, missing author page, missing images. But they had excellent content.
What's their score now?
After fixing everything we just talked about? 92/100.
That's amazing! Did their traffic go up?
Significantly. After 3 months of implementing these fixes, they saw:
- Indexed Pages: All 15+ articles in Google
- Rich Results: 12 pages with rich snippets
- Impressions: 1,500+ per month
- CTR: Increased from 1.2% to 4.8%
Matcha Maya: What was the most impactful change?
Teacher: Honestly? The meta descriptions. They went from auto-generated garbage to compelling, keyword-rich descriptions. That alone improved CTR by 40%.
Acai Gomez: I'm going to do that TODAY.
🎓 SEGMENT 6: Homework Assignment
Alright, class. Time for your homework.
We're ready!
Homework #1: Add meta descriptions to ALL your articles. Use this template:
Write a 150-160 character description that:
1. Includes your primary keyword
2. Compels the reader to click
3. Accurately describes the content
Homework #2: Create your /p/author.html page. Include your real name, photo, professional background, and links to your social media.
Homework #3: Fix your H1 tags. Either in the theme editor or in each post, change the title to <h1>.
Homework #4: Add at least one image per article with descriptive alt text.
Homework #5: Add 3 internal links per article. Link related content together.
Acai Gomez: So if I'm writing about the Insta360 X5, I should link to my article about low-light performance?
Teacher: Exactly. You're creating a web of knowledge. Google will see you as the authority on 360 travel vlogging.
Matcha Maya: I love this. I'm going to do all of it this week.
Acai Gomez: Me too. Let's check in next week and compare progress?
Teacher: I love that idea. We'll do a follow-up episode to review your results.
